REGISTER FOR THE WALK
WELCOME:
The 2024 walk will be held in Centennial Park on Sunday 17th November…
We hope this provides an opportunity where memories and experiences can be shared. We have mapped out a beautiful route to walk through the park, and we will come together in the picnic area after the walk for lunch and some time together.
This page provides details on the walk, and an RSVP registration page. Please register as this will help us with our planning. Please see at the end of this page for the RSVP form, or email your plans to Jenny and Edmund contact@walkforlife.sydney.
WHERE AND WHEN:
Centennial Park
Meet at One More Shot Pond from 10am. We will start our walk from here at 11am and finish back at One More Shot Pond for lunch and get together.
DESCRIPTION OF EVENTS FOR THE DAY:
Assemble at One More Shot Pond from 10am. We will start the walk at 11am. We will take a 5km walk through the beautiful surrounds of Centennial park, followed by a picnic and get-together. Alternatively you can stay at One More Shot Pond. We will have some people there who will be able to keep an eye on items left at One Shot Pond during the walk. We have booked the picnic ground so that we have adequate space.
You can do the walk at your own pace. Bring your own lunch.
WALK ROUTE:
The walking route is mainly flat and on paths and well-marked roads, with a section that takes us over grassland. It is about 5km long.
WET WEATHER PLAN:
Bring an umbrella, wet weather gear. If it is soggy and wet we will do an alternative circuit walk around Grand Drive (7km) on the walking path.
COVID:
Please follow current recommendations on Covid safe practice.
HOW TO GET THERE:
By car:
Parking in Centennial Park is free. You could have a look around Musgrave Avenue and the Grand Drive. Waverley and Randwick Councils also provide free, on-street parking around the perimeter of Queens Park. Or you could try outside the grounds in Darley Road, and hunt around for other parks.
Public transport:
Light Rail: with nearest stop on Alison Road, just behind the Ash Paddock
Train: Bondi Junction train station is within a 10 minute walking distance from the northern end of Centennial Park via Grafton St and Oxford St.

WHAT YOU MIGHT LIKE TO BRING:
We will have some tables and chairs set up, and there is some seating available at the picnic ground, but if you are coming by car and able to bring some of your own folding chairs or sitting rug, that would be great.
Bring your own lunch if you like, there is a bbq at the picnic ground. There is also a nearby café where you can buy some take away lunch items and coffee.
Consider wet weather gear if it’s looking like it might rain.
You might like to bring a photo/some photos or any other objects that feel right to bring in memory and honour of your beloved family member or friend who has died.
